UFC featherweight Josh Emmett just secured the biggest win of his career by edging Calvin Kattar in a 5-round razor-close war and with that said, he is also on a 5-fight winning streak. Fair to say that Emmett won’t settle down for anything less and would like to get into a title fight next. At the age of 37, Emmett proved that age is just a number and one can achieve strength and great learning power with consistency, hard work and focus.

But in the late thirties, this is the stage where most of the fighters decide to call it a career, of course until and unless you’re Glover Teixeira or Andrei Arlovski. But regardless, Emmett has secured wins over many tough opponents other than Kattar not so long ago, such as the likes of Michael Johnson, Dan Ige, Shane Burgos, Mirsad Bektic and many more. Emmett is currently ranked #4 in the official UFC rankings.

Emmett also talks in detail about his fight with Kattar, the rounds he thought he won, the damage he took, respect for Kattar and much more.

“That’s what I have always been like,” says Emmett “One of my favourite boxers of all time Mike Tyson and he was short for the heavyweight division and just his head movement and getting inside and ripping the body, set up those big right uppercuts or those overhand or hooks and stuff like that you know... I like the guys that get inside and make it a fight and go for those big knockouts, concludes Emmett. Besides that, Emmett is also a fan of current pound-for-pound great Canelo Alvarez.

What do you make of this admiration by Emmett towards Tyson? Do you think Emmett deserves the title fight next? Currently, the current featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski is going to defend his belt against preceding champion Max Holloway in a trilogy next month at UFC 276. Who do you think will win that fight? Also, where do you put Tyson amongst the greatest fighters of all time?
