“I can get it done”- Josh Emmett demands a title shot after beating Calvin Kattar at the main event of UFC Austin
Josh Emmett
Calvin Kattar vs Josh Emmett is just another fight that has landed on the hot pot of bizarre scoring as per the MMA community. In a super close bout where Kattar was controlling half of the fight with his jabs and partially, with his crosses and Emmett was charging on Kattar causing trouble with his lightning-fast hooks, Emmett came out as the superior fighter on the judges’ scorecard in this main event at UFC Austin.
Emmett is now on a 5-fight winning streak at the age of 37, chasing for a title shot is just a milestone in itself, imagine grabbing the title as you close your thirties. With that said, Kattar has just got himself under more pressure to put more work in order to put a more remarkable statement in the competition for the next time.
Regardless of how the scoring went, where many fans thought that Kattar was robbed of the fight, both the fighters were appreciated for an eye-catching back and forth of a super calculative fistfight.
“I want to be sitting cageside”- Josh Emmett would closely watch the trilogy match between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski
Emmett is surely enjoying his win, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. After accumulating a 5-fight win streak, he now demands a shot at the featherweight title. Talking to the reporters during the post-fight conference, he said, “I got one more thing to say, there’s a huge title fight in two weeks. I want to be sitting cageside to see who I’m fighting next. Dana, give me my shot.”
“Holloway and Volkanovski are arguably some of the best featherweights of all time. So much respect for them but they need some new blood in the division and I can get it done,” Emmet concluded. The trilogy between Holloway and Volkanovski is all set to take place at the co-main event of UFC 276.
Even though Volkanovski holds 2 wins over Max, both these victories came as a result of a controversial decision, Max has shown incredible improvement since their last fight, and he’s looking to bury the beef with a third win over the former champion.
