Julianna Pena achieved the unthinkable when she submitted Amanda Nunes to claim the women’s bantamweight title in the UFC 269. Julianna’s victory is regarded as the biggest upset in UFC history. Amanda Nunes is regarded as the greatest female fighter on this planet and defeating her is no small feat.

However, Julianna feels like she still has a lot to do in order to earn the respect she deserves. Julianna still feels like an underdog against Amanda and she believes everyone sees her win as a fluke. Julianna also claimed that she will defeat Amanda again in the rematch and will prove to everyone that she is a real champion. 

Reacting to what Julianna said, Dana White, in his recent interview, said that he believes Julianna is a great fighter but when you defeat a fighter like Amanda Nunes who is regarded as the greatest female fighter on the planet, you need to do it again for everyone to believe in you.

“They want her to win”- Julianna Pena believes the UFC is rooting for Amanda Nunes to defeat her in the rematch

Pena is taking the fight to the haters, and she believes White is not happy with the way things turned out. Talking to Barstool Chicago, she said, “He’s a little bit bummed that his little golden goose got tapped out. Of course, it’s so much better for them financially to have this girl who’s never been beaten in seven years, never been tapped out, never lost, and has belts in two weight classes, she’s fought the who’s-who of the division and she’s slayed all those giants.”

She added, “Of course, they’re not thinking I have a chance and they want her to win because it looks better for the promotion, it looks better for the UFC. They weren’t expecting to me to win. I literally looked at them after the fight and all of their jaws are to the floor. I was like, ‘sorry to ruin your day guys,’ sorry but what am I going to do? It’s not anything that’s rigged by any means so it’s up to the individual.”
