“That’s what you said last time” – Julianna Pena clowns Amanda Nunes for calling herself the “only lion” at UFC 277
Julianna Pena clowns Amanda Nunes at UFC 277 presser
Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes have an intense back-and-forth at the UFC 277 pre-fight press conference. The two best women’s bantamweights in the UFC are ready to take on each other in a much-anticipated rematch and Pena is looking to retain her very precious bantamweight belt.
The pre-fight press conference for the amazing pay-per-view event UFC 277 went down earlier. The PPV event is set to take place at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Pena defeated the GWOAT of UFC, Nunes at UFC 269 to become the new bantamweight champion. Pena went on to submit Amanda in the second round after a dog fight.
Julianna defeating Amanda Nunes is undoubtedly the biggest upset in the history of the sport. Despite proving that she can beat a fighter like Pena, the Venezuelan Vixen is doubted by many. Amanda believes that in her last fight she wasn’t herself and the real “Lioness” will be put on display in the upcoming title rematch. Pena, however, was very quick to dismiss the Brazilian’s words at the press conference.

Julianna said in the press conference that she will do everything in her power to make sure the bantamweight belt stays with her. Amanda’s legacy is on the line at UFC 277 as Julianna has managed to convince the fans that Amanda’s second belt in the featherweight division is not legitimate because of the lack of contenders. Amanda responded in the press conference to Pena and said she will be the best fighter this weekend.
“And I will be there ready. To be even better than her, you know. She’s really going to face a lion she didn’t see the last time. There’s only one lion in the jungle and it’s me,” said Amanda reaffirming her status as the best in the division. Julianna was quick to counter with, “That’s what you said last time,” taking shots at her opponent in the lead-up to the fight.
Julianna and Amanda do not have any bad blood but the determination to win surely drive a lot of tension between the two. They were recently also part of the Ultimate Fighter paired against each other as the two coaches.
