Ahead of her title bout at UFC 277 with Amanda Nunes, Julianna Pena is looking to shock the world again. The Venezuelan Vixen(12-4-0) is facing the former Bantamweight and current Featherweight Champion, The Lioness(21-5-0). The Venezuelan Vixen defeated Nunes at UFC 269 in Las Vegas by rear naked choke in round 2 at 03:26. The Lioness was on a 12-fight win streak prior to this bout.
After the win, The Venezuelan Vixen shocked the world, and claiming the title launched her into stardom. She was even a guest on the Joe Rogan Podcast. On the other hand, The Lioness cited medical reasons for her performance. Since her loss, The Lioness made a lot of changes in her fight camp. A significant one being, departing from the American top team to open her own gym ‘The Lioness Studio’ in Florida and train there. She joined the American Top Team back in 2014. The Lioness stated that she will claim her gold back and regain the ‘Double Champ’ status again.
After UFC 269, both these fighters were set to coach on the Ultimate Fighter season 30 against each other. On TUF they coached a team of eight fighters 4 women’s flyweights and 4 men’s heavyweights. The whole season is exclusively available on ESPN+ to watch.

During a recent interview of The Venezuelan Vixen with Kevin Iole on Yahoo Sports, The champion talked about how she defied the odds and beat the G.O.A.T of women’s MMA. The champ also talked about filming TUF season 30, and her experience coaching against The Lioness. Her strategy for the title defense at UFC 277, fighting in the main event.
After being asked about coaching against The Lioness at TUF 30, The Venezuelan Vixen stated, “I just make her tick. I know that,’. The champion stated, “I remember catching her in her van outside of my practice, like, peering through the windows, and it was a long time before we finally realized that we were being spied on and we were like, ‘Hey!’ and then they turned off the lights, backed the car up in reverse, and sped away. I was like, I intrigue her. I obviously got in her — she’s thinking about me and I think that’s what probably makes her tick: me, in general.”
The Venezuelan Vixen also stated that she is going to repeat what she did at UFC 269 again. It will be intriguing to see if The Champ proves everyone wrong again and defend her title.
