The rematch between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Peña was probably one of the most one-sided championship bouts in recent memory. The fight that acted as the main event for UFC 277, saw Peña walk out bruised and battered and having lost her title.

Now over 2 months since the fight, Peña feels she still has a claim to have her rematch. The former bantamweight champion took to Instagram where she boasted about the damage she inflicted on Nunes, as she promised to do better with a second shot.

“I’m getting my belt back that’s what’s next!”, read Peña’s message answering fans who enquired about her future career path. “A trilogy with [Nunes] is the fight to make. I did everything I said I was going to do going into that first fight. I gave Amanda the immediate rematch within six months and a man maybe I should have sat out for two years like she does.?”, said Peña as she made her case as to why she deserved a title shot.

Emphasizing how difficult of a challenge she was to Nunes, Peña said, “She had to go home and change and revamp her ENTIRE STYLE to beat me. I take it as a compliment.”
