Now over 2 months since the fight, Peña feels she still has a claim to have her rematch. The former bantamweight champion took to Instagram where she boasted about the damage she inflicted on Nunes, as she promised to do better with a second shot.
“I’m getting my belt back that’s what’s next!”, read Peña’s message answering fans who enquired about her future career path. “A trilogy with [Nunes] is the fight to make. I did everything I said I was going to do going into that first fight. I gave Amanda the immediate rematch within six months and a man maybe I should have sat out for two years like she does.?”, said Peña as she made her case as to why she deserved a title shot.
Emphasizing how difficult of a challenge she was to Nunes, Peña said, “She had to go home and change and revamp her ENTIRE STYLE to beat me. I take it as a compliment.”
