“Pheonix will be great”- Justin Gaethje reacts to the prospect of fighting Charles Oliveira in the US instead of Brazil

UFC 274 is just around the corner and this time the Lightweight belt is on the line. The champ Charles Olivera will be defending his belt for the second time and this time it will be against Justin Gaethje. Charles has successfully defended his belt against Dustin Poirier, which he won via submission in the 3rd round.

Justin, on the other hand, won his last fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 268 via Decision. The fight was regarded as one of the most brutal fights in the UFC and judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 in the favor of Justin Gaethje. After winning the fight unanimously, Justin Gaethje now has his eyes on the UFC Lightweight title belt.

UFC 274 will take place on May 7, 2022, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. The Main fight for this event was supposed to be against the current champion Glover Teixeira and former Rizin Light Heavyweight Champion Jiří Procházka. However, the bout was pushed back to UFC 275 due to unknown reasons.

The main fight for the event is now between The current Lightweight champ Charles Olivera and Justin Gaethje. The fight is taking place in Justin’s hometown Phoenix, Arizona and he is confident about winning the belt against the current champ.

In an interview with ESPN, Justin was asked about fighting in his hometown and how it is different from fighting in Brazil. To the question, Justin replied: “I would have preferred Brazil but in hindsight, I would have Preferred Phoenix. If you are a creature of habit, you want to have control over certain things um, your nutrition, your water, your sleep, and all these things and when you go to different countries you don’t see these things so, yeah I think phoenix will be great.”

According to Justin Gaethje, there are certain things that are important to him during the fight and he thinks that being in his hometown will have him take care of those.

The UFC has a big pay-per-view lined up for May 7th, and two titles will be on the line. In the main event, the lightweight champion Charles Oliveira will defend his belt against Justin Gaethje. As for the co-main event, Rose Namajunas will be avenging her loss against Carla Esparza for the strawweight title.

More action is promised as Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson take on each other in a three-round contest. More fighters such as UFC veteran Donald Cerrone and former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua are on the card
