Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards are set to create AN UNBELIEVABLE RECORD when they fight at UFC 278
Dominance in the sport of mixed martial arts only solidifies a fighter’s position as an all-time great. Similarly, when the word dominance comes to mind, it is hard to pass the name of Kamaru Usman. With only one defeat in his professional career, The Nigerian Nightmare has made a mark in the sport. Usman’s reign in the UFC has earned the fighter several accolades. The 170-pound champion has been so dominant, that he is lapping fighters in his division.
While there might not be a lot of people wanting to face Usman, Leon Edwards has taken up the challenge. This is the second time Usman and Edwards will be fighting each other. In the first fight, Usman was able to grind out a decision victory. However, since then, Edwards has experienced tremendous growth. ‘Rocky’ has been undefeated since he last fought The Nigerian Nightmare. Through his impressive striking and grappling abilities, Edwards has victories over the likes of Nate Diaz, Rafael Dos Anjos, and Donald Cerrone to name a few.
Many fans around the world believe that Edwards can spoil Usman’s title run. While that remains something to be seen, both fighters are set to establish a record when they meet each other in the octagon.

Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards are set to create history
At UFC 278, Kamaru Usaman will defend his welterweight title against contender Leon Edwards. This fight between the duo is set to serve as the main event. While the two combatants share a lot of history, the duo will combine to create a unique record when they meet in the octagon.
As per MMA journalist Mike Bohn, this is the first time two fighters with an active win streak of 10+ fights will share the octagon. Bohn wrote, “Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards 2 is the first matchup in history where two athletes with UFC unbeaten streaks of 10+ fights share the octagon.“

This record indeed proves the level of dominance Usman and Edwards have exerted in the octagon. While Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson would have been the original holders of this record, a fight between them never took place. After Usman and Edwards, Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev will be the second duo to hold a similar record. What do you think about the insane level of dominance by these fighters?
