Kamaru Usman gives his list of GREATEST fighters of all time ahead of his rematch with Leon Edwards at UFC 278
Kamaru Usman
Out of all the personal list of the greats of MMA being held by various fighters, Kamaru Usman’s list will definitely hold more credibility than most for he is currently on the verge of being put in that discussion sooner or later in his career. Usman is not only the current UFC welterweight champion but he is also the #1 in UFC’s official pound-for-pound rankings. Usman will fight #2 ranked welterweight Leon Edwards this weekend at UFC 278.
UFC 278 takes place with the UFC’s first steps in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. While Usman’s fight against Edwards is in the main event slot, the co-main event involves a clash of the middleweights, a former title challenger in Paulo Costa welcoming the return of former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. Besides that there is a bantamweight battle between former WEC-UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Merab Dvalishvili.
A light-heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight and a bantamweight enter Kamaru Usman’s GOAT list
In an exclusive interview for ESPN MMA, Kamaru Usman talks about his mentality as a world champion, the pressure he carries by staying at the top, his thoughts on his rematch against Leon Edwards and much more. Besides this, the interviewer, Brett Okamoto, asks Usman about the names he would put in his list of greatest fighters of all time or simply put the GOATS of MMA.
“Skill wise and technique wise that these guys were able to show, I think, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, what these guys were able to bring. Umm.. Georges St-Pierre, I would even say Dominick Cruz,“ says Usman.
What do you make of Usman’s list of the greatest fighters of all time? Do you think he has got the right names in his mind when debating about this topic? Except for Jones, all the fighters have faded away from their prime time in MMA and Cruz is the only one active and still fighting, though we cannot deny his last fight was a devastating loss for his fans, a fourth round knockout by Marlon Vera. What do you make of Usman’s position amongst the greatest fighters of all time? Who do you think wins this Saturday between Usman and Edwards?
