Kamaru Usman reflects on his acting debut in Marvel's blockbuster, joking about his near-confrontation scene with popular characters from the movie.

Kamaru Usman is one of the best fighters to ever compete in the UFC. The former welterweight champion reigned as the pound-for-pound king in his heyday. He was on course to overtake Anderson Silva‘s win streak record only to falter to Leon Edwards at UFC 278. Usman’s popularity skyrocketed as a long-reigning champion and he was acquainted with big names like Tom Brady and Shaquille O’Neal.
Before his fight with Edwards at UFC 278, Usman got some acting chops in with a role in the superhero movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Usman had a small role to play in the movie as a naval officer. He recently reminisced about the role in his latest Instagram post which showed his on-screen appearance. This is what he captioned the post.

Usman’s role in the film was a slight verbal altercation with M’Baku, portrayed by Winston Duke. Danai Gurira, who portrayed Okoye, stops the altercation. Usman’s caption was a hilarious dig a this moment. To this date, it is Usman’s only appearance on screen.
Usman is not the only UFC fighter to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre appeared as Georges Batroc in Captain America: Winter Soldier and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He also voiced his character in What If…?. Furthermore, another welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley has appeared in movies like Sultan, Kickboxer: Vengeance, and Escape Plan: Hades. He also had a role in the acclaimed web series, Cobra Kai.
Kamaru Usman’s Marvel Cinematic Universe starting 5
Kamaru Usman attended the premier of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Before that, he gave an exclusive interview to ESPN MMA. In the quick interview, Usman got the task to name a starting 5 comprised only of characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At Centre, Usman had Hulk as it is a position of big men. As forwards, Usman had Black Panther and Superman as the Forwards. MCU does not have Superman but he went with the Kryptonian nonetheless. Interestingly, Usman had Ironman and Spiderman as the Guards with Ironman as the point forward. Usman labeled Ironman as the quarterback of the team. He named Spiderman as someone irreplaceable.
The MCU has plans to make a third Black Panther film and Usman might get a chance to reprise his role again. Usman last fought at UFC 294, on short notice, against Khamzat Chimaev. He lost the fight via majority decision. After the fight, Dana White praised Usman for accepting a short-notice fight and thereby saving the fight card.
