Kamaru Usman has sent an evident and positive message to the MMA world regarding his interest in fighting Khamzat Chimaev. As per Usman’s recent interview with TMZ, the Swedish fighter is ducking offers unnecessarily.

Kamaru Usman has come a long way in the UFC’s welterweight division. His dominance over most fighters and the legendary trilogy with Leon Edwards has made him one of the best in the world. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Kamaru Usman spoke about his interest in fighting Khamzat Chimaev. According to the “Nigerian Nightmare,” the fight made perfect sense, but Khamzat did not want to commit to something so beneficial for both fighters. Usman explained why he would not move up to middleweight to fight Khamzat since he has worked to reach the top of the division and doesn’t need to sacrifice too much for Khamzat. Usman stated, “You want me to come to middleweight just cos you’re hype? Who are you?”

Former UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman eagerly watched the main event between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier for the BMF title. UFC 291 had somewhat of a rivalry going on since Gaethje was a long-time friend of Usman, while Poirier is the same for Usman’s octagon rival Jorge Masvidal. A lot was on the line at UFC 291. This would be a massive factor in Kamaru Usman’s enthusiastic reaction to Gaethje’s win.

Justin Gaethje won the fight via an incredible head kick knockout over “the diamond.” This blew open social media and MMA fans worldwide to react in an inspiring manner. One such fan was Kamaru Usman, who could not stop himself from jumping all over the place.

Justin Gaethje looks forward to increasing his fame and recognition with a potential fight for the UFC lightweight championship. On the other hand, Usman might have to work a bit more before receiving a title shot again.
