“These are non-CANCEROUS moles,” Kamaru Usman talks about being heavily accused of using PEDs due to stomach marks

Kamaru Usman

Kamaru Usman has an Octagon work of perfection and so is his physique, enough to make people suspect him of being on to something. Usman, the former UFC welterweight champion has the record for the third most title victories in UFC welterweight history after the great Georges St-Pierre and Matt Hughes. He is also the former #1 P4P fighter in the official UFC rankings. Usman is known for his wins over the likes of Leon Edwards, Jorge Masvidal, Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns, Sean Strickland, Rafael Dos Anjos, Demian Maia, Tyron Woodley and many more.

Usman was last seen fighting at UFC 278 when he lost his belt to Leon Edwards in a rematch that took place after 7 years. Usman is one out of the first batch of UFC champions from the African continent alongside Israel Adesanya and Francis Ngannou. Usman trains at Kill Cliff FC and also under Trevor Wittman as well alongside fighters such as Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler, Gilbert Burns, Rose Namajunas and many more.

In the latest episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Kamaru Usman talks about his loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 278, his life, his future ahead as a fighter and much more. In the midst of all, Usman decides to address a major criticism of himself ie. him being blamed for allegedly and cleverly using PEDs- Performance Enhancing Drugs. The criticism was first held by Usman’s rival Colby Covington who time and again pointed out Usman has a certain type of marks all over his body. Later on, Usman came under the radar of famous fitness celebrity Derek from More Plates More Dates who sort of saw Usman under the same lens as Covington.

“I get it all the time now, people accuse me all the time now,” says Usman “I have like five scars on my stomach… so this is what happened, I was in college… I think it was after my junior season. So I got like a mole on my stomach… I am kinda like a clean freak so I started scratching it and then it starts bleeding… so I was like ‘f**k, that’s not a regular zit or something,’… so I went in for a physical [check-up] before the season… so the doctor looks at it and he goes ‘oh these are non-cancerous moles’…

I’m like yeah well, how can I get rid of them, I try to scratch it and they bleed. He’s like yeah you don’t do that. What you can do is burn them off… so he burns them and he goes like, hey those are going to fall off in a couple of days, you know, just give them time… but my dumb ass wrestled and it rubbed up against the mat and now they all fell off… so I have those from just that moment...” continued Usman.

What do you make of Usman’s marks actually being non-cancerous moles as claimed by the former champion? Do you think Usman is onto something illegal as per the Anti-Doping Agency? It’s a very risky claim to make against someone who has achieved a lot. Not only that, Usman is one of the first people to have been recognised by the USADA for passing 50 successful drug tests. When you have to make such a bold claim against an athlete who has touched the status of being one of the greatest of all time, you’ve got to be extra careful.
