Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has always been supportive of fellow African and friend Francis Ngannou. Usman has been good friends with Ngannou for a long time and has trained with him, too. He recently gave his thoughts on Ngannou’s upcoming boxing debut against Tyson Fury. He warned fans not to take Ngannou lightly and spoke about the journey of the Cameroonian.

Usman recently spoke about Ngannou in an interview with TMZ Sports. He talked about how even though it is Ngannou’s first boxing bout, fans should believe in his ability. Usman praised Ngannou’s ability and said, “If he touches you, you might not wake up”. He spoke about the hardships and “trials and tribulations” Ngannou had to go through to achieve championship status.

Usman warned Fury about not taking the fight seriously and spoke of Ngannou’s danger to the boxing champion. He also termed Ngannou as the “biggest heavyweight superstar in the world.” The Nigerian Nightmare revealed that both he and Ngannou have a brother-like bond that started when they fought on the same card for their first fight in the UFC.

Ngannou is gearing up to fight Fury on October 28, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight between Fury and Ngannou is a clash of styles. Fury will be looking to use his movement and boxing skills to outbox Ngannou. Ngannou will be looking to land his heavy punches and end the fight early. Fans will look forward to seeing Usman in Ngannou’s corner.

Kamaru Usman had one of the most dominant reigns during his run as welterweight champion. After defeating almost every contender in the welterweight top ten. His run was halted after a knockout loss against Leon Edwards which cost him the championship. He rematched Edwards at UFC 286 and faced a decision loss.

Ngannou has always supported Usman and sent words of support to Usman after his second loss in a row. He posted a photo of him and Usman and motivated his friend. He spoke about how having the belt does not define the status of a champion. Ngannou believes that Usman’s legacy is always cemented in the sport of MMA.

Both Ngannou and Usman have had dominant performances as champions. They are known for their punching power and impressive physique. There is no doubt that both of them are impressive athletes and will continue making their mark in combat sports.
