Breaking: Katlyn Chookagian out of UFC Paris, Jessica Andrade to face Manon Fiorot instead
Jessica Andrade vs Manon Fiorot
Jessica Andrade has come in as a savior for the UFC as she stepped up to fight Manon Fiorot at UFC Paris after Katlyn Chookagian was forced to withdraw from the event. Katlyn was supposed to fight Manon in Paris as the UFC organised their first event in France. UFC Paris was a much awaited event for the promotion after France legalized MMA in the country. France was one of the few countries where MMA was not allowed. However, Frace lifted its MMA ban in 2020 and recognized MMA as a sport.
UFC was eager to hold an event in France since 2020 but could not due to COVID restriction. Other promotions, such as Bellator, are already organising regular events in the country, but UFC is still awaiting its debut on French soil. UFC is now all set to organise an event in Paris, France and MMA fans across the country are excited about the event.
The event will headline a fight between heavyweight fighters Cyril Gane and Tai Tuivasa. UFC Paris was also featuring a fight between women flyweight fighters Katlyn Chookagian and Manon Fiorot. However, the promotion has announced that Katlyn is forced out of the vent because of an injury and former straw weight fighter Jessica Andrade will face Manon in France instead.
Katlyn is currently number one contender in the flyweight division and Manon is ranked 6th. Jessica is currently ranked 4th in the flyweight division and she last fought in the octagon in April, where she defeated Amanda Lemos in the first round via an amazing standing arm triangle choke.
“It’s easier to fight Julianna”- Jessica Andrade believes Julianna Pena is easier to beat than other Strawweight fighters
Jessica Andrade is one of the top female fighters in MMA. She is the only female fighter in UFC history to score wins in three UFC weight classes. She has won against opponents from Strawweight all the way to bantamweight and she believes she can defeat the new bantamweight champion Julianna Pena.
Julianna recently caused a major upset by defeating Amanda Nunes to win the bantamweight title. Amanda is regarded as the greatest female fighter in MMA and a win over her was the biggest moment in Julianna’s career. Julianna won the fight via a rear naked choke in the second round and handed Amanda her only loss since 2014.
Despite an amazing win, Jessica believes fighting Julianna would be easier that fighting top fighters of other weight divisions. Taking with MMA fighting‘s Portuguese-language podcast ‘Trocação Franca’, Andrade said: “In theory, it’s easier to fight Julianna, especially for what she’s showed against Amanda. I really think it was more of Amanda losing than Pena winning, because Amanda is way better than what she’s showed. I really think it’s easier to fight Julianna than the girls at 125 and 115.”
