UFC Middleweight Kelvin Gastelum is going through a path of ups and downs so far in his career, but nothing can derail his dedication to one day, rise to the occasion at the top from under the pressure of these setbacks. Gastelum, who formerly competed at welterweight, moved up to middleweight due to weight cutting issues. Throughout his career, Gastelum has fought the likes of Tyron Woodley, Neil Magny, Chris Weidman, Israel Adesanya, Darren Till, Jack Hermansson, Robert Whittaker, Jared Cannonier and many more.

Gastelum is highly respected for his wins over the likes of Ranaldo Souza, Michael Bisping, Tim Kennedy, Johnny Hendricks, Nate Marquardt, Jake Ellenberger, Uriah Hall, Rick Story and many more. Gastelum is mostly known for his all-time great clash against current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya back at UFC 236 on April 13, 2019, for the interim middleweight championship.

At UFC 273, Gastelum was originally supposed to fight French MMA prospect Nassourdine Imavov, but due to Imavov’s visa troubles, the fight was called off. Gastelum was then given another prospect, this time a South African by the name of Dricus Du Plessis. But fate had some bad luck involved and Gastelum had to be out due to an injury.

As a part of his statement on the withdrawal which was announced on April 1, Gastelum wrote, “I wish it was an April Fool’s joke, I wish this didn’t happen, but it did, and unfortunately, I have to withdraw from the fight. I was advised not to disclose the injury, but just know, I am compromised, and I can’t and won’t be heading into the fight compromised the way that I am.”

Recently on Twitter, Gastelum shared a glimpse of his recovery as he shot a video from a gym and wrote in the caption “On a mission to recovery #Bumkneeville

What do you make of Kelvin Gastelum’s recovery process on his knee? Do you think he will be able to bounce back from his recent phase in his professional career which has him 1-5 in his last six fights? Who do you think should Gastelum fight on his return? Most probably, Gastelum is likely to fight either one out of Nassourdine Imavov or Dricus du Plessis if the UFC has no plans for the upcoming prospects so far.
