“Wannabe street sh*t” Kevin Holland EXPOSES Khamzat Chimaev during UFC 279 media scrum
Kevin Holland (L) and Khamzat Chimaev (R)
Kevin Holland is having a splendid time outside the octagon. He is the crusader Texas needs, and he delivers each time. From stopping assailants to halting robberies, Kevin Holland is the definition of the art of MMA coming in clutch in dire situations.
Inside the octagon, he has looked good this year. Coming off the back of an unsuccessful stint at Middleweight, the excellent striker has beat Alex Oliveira and Tim Means, via TKO and submission, respectively.
Holland had moved up a division with a lot of promise – he had the height, the lean muscularity and flair to pull it off. However, the overall feeling within the ranks of MMA fans is that he was promoted to face tough opponents too hastily. Evidently, he showed his lack of preparation in losses to Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori.
On Sunday, he faces Welterweight contender Daniel Rodriguez on the main card at UFC 279.

Kevin Holland calls out Khamzat Chimaev’s sham ‘’Gangster” persona after altercation with Paulo Costa
At the moment, Paulo Costa is by far, the funniest UFC fighter, on the internet. His tweets are timed to perfection, and his honest attempt to bridge the gap from his native Portuguese to English leaves something to be desired, but those gaps also bring out the most hilarious gaffs. Making the case for this is him calling his “secret juice” the recipe to get “jacket” (or, jacked, as he probably meant it).
After his win over Luke Rockhold at UFC 278, Costa has stayed back in the US, training with former Strikeforce Middleweight champion Jake Shields, at the UFC Performance Institute. There, he ran into Khamzat Chimaev who he previously called “Gourmet Chen Chen”, in a soft jab at his Chechen identity. Chimaev intended to face-off with the Brazilian, but reportedly failed to intimidate the big Middleweight. A video of the altercation, albeit from Paulo Costa’s YouTube can be located below.
When asked about this incident by an MMA reporter, Kevin Holland said that “I feel like he likes the media. He only does this extra ‘wannabe’ street sh*t when the media’s around. Other than that, he doesn’t do it.” He added, “When you guys aren’t around, he wants to do fistbumps and be everyone’s best friend.”
Holland echoes what many fight fans have felt this week – that, Chimaev, in order to promote the narrative that the UFC has built around him, has gone overboard with it, and does not actually want to get into too many scuffles.
Kevin Holland fights Daniel Rodriguez this weekend at UFC 279, in Las Vegas. The bout is crucial for the rising star to win, if he wishes to etch his name into the Welterweight history books at a later stage. What is also possible, is Holland and Chimaev meeting in the octagon at some point in their careers, given they both share the 170 pound division.
