Kevin Holland always puts on an exciting fight if he can keep the fight standing. His wrestling weakness was evident during his stint as a middleweight fighter. Holland competed at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City. Surprisingly, he destroyed Michael Chiesa in the first round to silence his critics. After the bout, he joked about his future, which involved steaks and having s*x.

Kevin Holland said, “I only came down to 170 for a BMF belt. If there’s going to be no BMF at 170, I’m gonna ship my black ass back to 185. I like to eat steaks and have sex to make weight.” Fight fans and the commentary team were surprised to hear such a revelation from the American fighter. It is safe to say that Holland was a decent addition to the PPV card.

Holland followed it up with a D’Arce choke submission that Chiesa tapped out to. Chiesa could be on his way out of the UFC with these losses. He lost to Vicente Luque and Sean Brady. Now a loss to Kevin Holland became his third straight loss. Chiesa could retire at some point if things do not work for him.

After defeating Michael Chiesa, Kevin Holland said he wanted the BMF belt. However, it no longer remains in the welterweight division. Hence, Holland reiterated his desire to fight in the middleweight division again. The American fighter had spoken about not wanting to cut all that much weight earlier this year.

However, after UFC 291, he could move to the middleweight division. It may not be the right move for Holland. He struggled in the middleweight division against bigger fighters who used their wrestling to trounce Holland.

After losing to Khamzat Chimaev and Stephen Thompson, Holland started to win the welterweight division. If Holland hopes to fight for the title, welterweight remains his best option. The fighters in the middleweight division could be too big for Holland. Only time will tell if Holland will move to the middleweight division or if he was joking.
