Khabib and Seedorf announce their Performance Institute in Canada

Last year Khabib Nurmagomedov announced that along with football legend Clarence Seedorf announced his plans to combine two of his favorite sports and provide children with the opportunity to master in both. In a venture titled, “Seedorf-Khabib Performance Club” or SK for short, the duo looks to amalgamate the best training aspects of both sports into one.

Khabib Nurmagomedov may be a world-class MMA champion, but if fate were up to him, he has admitted he finds kicking around a ball to be a much more pleasant way to make a living rather than having to smother people’s faces. A lifelong fan of Football, Khabib has indeed played in local clubs across Dagestan and has even befriended some of the best football players in the world.

Most notably Khabib shares a great personal friendship with football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, a relationship based on mutual respect as both athletes have publicly commented hoe they admire each other’s work ethic. Former 5 time UCL Champion, Clarence Seedorf is one of those men in football who Khabib befriended and now the two look to ensure other children get the opportunities they couldn’t have.

Seedorf apart from being a legendary player has also taken up the mantle of manager very well and hence makes sense why Khabib would have such a decorated man alongside him to fulfill this gigantic venture. “We want to give youngsters across the world the opportunity to develop their sport and social abilities with a training methodology which combines football and mixed martial arts, “ said Seedorf on his Instagram while announcing his partnership with Nurmagomedov.

This week the venture finally set up it’s first school in Canada, announcing plans to make these one-of-a-kind schools to be set up in Toronto, Canada. Additionally, the press release also stated that many additional locations across Canada were also being scouted.

While integrating MMA and Soccer might sound like violence waiting to happen, we can be sure that nothing of the sort will be occurring under Seedorf’s guidance. The main reason for many to have this fear is having watched clips of Dagestani basketball, it’s fair to have your concerns.

For those unfamiliar with Dagestani Basketball, it is a training routine that was designed allegedly by Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, to condition his fighters better. The only similarity with actual basketball is the ball itself and the fact that baskets count. Everything from dribbling to tackles is to be forgotten about. In a clip posted by Will Harris, we can see the Eagles MMA gym play this unique style of basketball mixed with sudden takedowns and submission attempts when one is unable to turnover possession
