Khabib Nurmagomedov has been stirring the pot recently with his comments on Charles Oliveira. The former lightweight champ takes a shot at the Brazilian lightweight’s ground game in a recent video.
Khabib Nurmagomedov retired as a champion and is considered to be the greatest lightweight of all time. However, Charles Oliveira, the king of the current lightweight division is edging closer to taking that throne from Khabib. Islam Makhachev, who is a top lightweight contender and believed to be the successor of Khabib is eyeing a potential title fight against Oliveira.
Recently, Khabib, Kamaru Usman, Henry Cejudo, and Chael Sonnen got together to broadcast the event of EAGLE FC 47. During their time spent together, Khabib demonstrated how Islam would beat Oliveira in their upcoming bout. Khabib shows Henry that it would be easier to grab hold of one’s opponent with your legs and continue draining huge punches on their face.
“This is what Islam gonna do with Charles Oliveira. He is gonna ride him….like how you ride your horse,” said Khabib talking to Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo.
“He tap 8 times in UFC” Khabib Nurmagomedov questions Oliveira’s threat on the ground
Nurmagomedov has constantly criticized Oliveira for getting knocked down during his fights. In the recent video, Nurmagomedov questions Oliveira’s legitimacy as a serious ground threat given he has previously lost to opponents on the ground in his time in the UFC. In Charles’s defense, the Brazilian fighter has been fighting in the promotion for more than a decade and has fought top fighters all his life.
Following his demonstration of how to beat opponents on ground-and-pound, “A lot of people underestimate Islam. They think Charles Oliveira has ground game. He don’t have ground game If you tap 8 times in UFC how can you say you have ground game? He tapped 8 times,” said Nurmagomedov.
