“I can take him down” Khabib Nurmagomedov jokes bout a fantasy fight with Michael Jordan before his Hall of Fame induction ceremony
Khabib jokes about wanting to fight Jordan
Khabib Nurmagomedov entered the arena of the immortals today as he got inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Throughout his successful career, Khabib has defeated a who’s who of the best fighters in the world as was asked today about who would be the one fictional or real celebrity he would face, his answer was Michael Jordan.
Khabib entered the UFC with a record of 17-0, which was called into question as a padded record immediately. However, he would prove them all wrong within the first three fights in the company, 2 of which he won via a finish. Nurmagomedov would go on to display the effectiveness of Dagestani wrestling in neutralizing opponents and keeping them in compromising positions.
Khabib would lay the groundwork for an entire generation of athletes from the region as they entered the UFC and various other organizations to arguably take over the sport. With his title victory, Khabib would etch his name in stone forever however, it his his legendary title run that will be remembered for a long time to come,
Khabib Nurmagomedov is confident in his abilities to take down Michael Jordan
In his three defenses, he went up against Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. His fight against Conor was by far the highest-grossing event in UFC history with about 2.4 Million PPV buys. His last two performances at Abu Dhabi would solidify his spot at the top of the division and lead him to an early retirement due to the death of his father.
Today Nurmagomedov was asked on the red carpet about who is the one celebrity he would like to fight, his answer surprised many as he was the first athlete to bring in the GOAT debate to mainstream sports, Michael Jordan.
Jordan is arguably one of the most recognizable names in sport ever and made his legacy through his stint at the Chicago Bulls where he was able to 3peat (win 3 NBA Finals back to back) TWICE in the 90’s. Jordan too like Khabib would retire while still in his prime (although the former would make a return years later) hence explaining why the Dagestani would like to face off against a fellow GOAT.
Khabib’s reason to face Jordan? “I believe I can take him down” joked Nurmagomedov as he revealed why he is so confident in his ability to beat the 6’6 basketball icon. We may have to warn Nurmagomedov that Michael was the most successful player in arguably the most physical era of the game so he may be able to hand his own in a brawl. Although in full disclosure we are unsure if Michael stands a chance against Dagestani ground control.
