Khabib Nurmagomedov is more confident than ever in the skills of his teammate Islam Makhachev to finish the current lightweight king Charles Oliveira.
If there is one fight that every MMA fan wants to see in the UFC lightweight division, it is the much-anticipated Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev fight for the vacant lightweight title. Oliveira has been finishing his opponents in the octagon for the last two years. However, he is yet to answer the test of Islam Makhachev.
Islam is the favorite to fight Oliveira next for the lightweight title and former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov wouldn’t mind his friend taking on ‘Do Bronx’ in his home of Brazil. Khabib is positive that irrespective of the location of the fight, the lightweight belt will belong to Islam and Dagestan in the upcoming years.

While many are pushing for a title shot for Islam, others believe he should face Beneil Dariush, and prove his worth to face the champ. He was booked to face Beneil a while ago, but Beneil got injured and he had to pull out of that fight. Now, he is fit to compete and the UFC can book a scrap between these two.
Dana Whit too believes this is the fight to make, but Khabib isn’t too impressed by his decision. Talking to ESPN, Khabib revealed that he texted Dana about the same, but he didn’t hear anything back. He said, “Honestly this is (the) first time since we talk (to) each other, (and) he don’t respond. I send a message like, ‘No way some other guy have to fight for the title.’ I said something like (a) similar message but he don’t respond. I think he was busy maybe. This first time. It’s okay, everybody make mistake.”
Talking about Charles vs Islam, he said, “If you wanna come back after injury, fight with someone like top guys, then fight for the title. Beneil have to fight contender fight, Islam have to fight for the title versus Charles Oliveira. This is my opinion. This is fair. 11 win streak vs. 10 win streak, Let them fight.”
