Khabib Nurmagomedov and Makhachev have been trying their level best for some time to make the title fight between Dagestani and Oliviera. Initially, the Brazilian had no interest and wanted to fight Conor McGregor. However, things have changed now.
The much anticipated lightweight title fight between Oliveira and Makhachev is finally going to take place on October 22 inside the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Stylistically there cannot be a better match to decide the UFC champion in the current lightweight roster.
Nurmagomedov recently shared an edited reel on his Instagram which showed his excitement for the fight. The clip featured an imaginary situation of Makhachev and Oliviera standing across from each other inside the Octagon with Bruce Buffer’s voice in the background.

According to Nurmagomedov, this fight between Makhachev and Oliviera will answer the question of who is the undisputed champion. In the end, Nurmagomedov strongly suggested that Oliveira should prepare excuses as he is going to lose.
“Just goosebumps from waiting. Islam Makhachev is coming out for this fight against the best fighter at the moment in UFC. Oliveira is the best fighter of 2022. He is one of the best, regardless of the weight category, also goes on a 12-win streak in the UFC. This fight will answer all questions. Someone reads history, and someone writes it. Prepare your excuses, we aim to win Oliveira ahead of schedule InshaAllah,” wrote Nurmagomedov.
Makhachev is the only fighter that has the potential to stop Oliveira and this has the fans excited and intrigued. Many are calling it the biggest lightweight fight since the iconic Nurmagomedov vs McGregor fight at UFC 229. It will be interesting to see who will rise as the champion after this massive showdown.
