Khabib Nurmagomedov retired undefeated but did not face his longtime rival, Tony Ferguson. It is still the biggest ‘what if?’ in MMA history. The UFC had scheduled the fight five times. Ferguson and Nurmagomedov had to pull out of the fight two times each. Fight fans eagerly awaited that fifth time was the charm, but the COVID-19 lockdown destroyed the plan.

In Nurmagomedov’s absence, Ferguson faced Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight championship and lost. Ferguson has never won since. At present, he has the longest active losing streak in the UFC. Nonetheless, Ferguson and Nurmagomedov had one of best lightweight winning streaks in history. Ferguson was a recent guest on the JAXXON podcast, where he exposed Team Nurmagomedov. This is what he said about it.

Khabib's team surrounded my family when we were checking in, and they surrounded us. I didn't know, my wife's like, 'Hey, look,' and I f*cking went around... And so, they ended up leaving, and we ended up going to another spot.

Ferguson said that Team Nurmagomedov tried to provoke an altercation with his team soon after the incident with his family. Team Nurmagomedov has a reputation for teaming up to confront opponents outside the octagon, and the incident Ferguson mentioned was one of them. They have confronted Artem Lobov and Nate Diaz similarly.

Ferguson last fought at UFC 296 against Paddy Pimblett and lost via unanimous decision. It was his 7th straight loss in the UFC, 6th in the lightweight division. Many, including UFC CEO Dana White, called for Ferguson to retire. However, Ferguson revealed that he did not have any intention of retiring.
