From reacting to Logan Paul’s story to thanking Gilbert Burns- Khamzat Chimaev gives entire ‘behind the scenes’ access leading up to UFC 273 victory
Khamzat Chimaev
UFC Welterweight Khamzat Chimaev is on the top of the world for he has legit proven once again why the hype behind ‘The Borz’ is as real as advertised. Chimaev is coming off the biggest victory of his career when he secured a unanimous decision victory against former UFC title challenger and #4 ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 earlier this month as headlined by a featherweight title fight between the champion Alexander Volkanovski and the former challenger Chan Sung Jung.
Adding to the victory he got, it is important to note that this was Chimaev’s fifth UFC fight only and this is not the first time he has proven that he is legit. Chimaev made his UFC debut back in 2020 when he fought his first two fights via finishes within a span of just 10 days. The next thing you know is that he knocks out a renowned finisher at middleweight, Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds and after laying off for a year due to Covid, comes to secure a spectacular first-round submission win against the very tough Li Jingliang last year.
Khamzat Chimaev acknowledges Logan Paul talking about him in The MMA Hour
In the video below, you will get to see Chimaev’s attitude throughout the fight week and proves how his mentality helps him separate from the rest of the fighters in the welterweight division besides his talent. Chimaev can be earlier seen having the already viral interaction with his then-upcoming opponent Burns with both wearing nothing but towels during the weight cutting process. Then you can also see Chimaev’s teammate Darren Till pulling off moves on four wheels as he nearly frightens one of Chimaev’s associates with reckless driving skills.
Chimaev occasionally talks in between the video and tells why his fight is the main event and how he is already a huge draw for the UFC. Chimaev’s training sessions are summarised in between. Chimaev trains out of All-Stars Training Center under head coach Andreas Michael. Chimaev is also seen reacting to internet sensation Logan Paul’s video narrating a Khamzat Chimaev story at THE MMA HOUR with Ariel Helwani.
After the fight happened and Chimaev secured the win against Burns, he hugged Burns’ coach Henri Hooft and expressed how grateful he was to fight Burns. Chimaev also expressed his love and respect for Burns and affirmed it was hard to fight in front of Burns’ kids and there was no hate from Chimaev’s side as a competitor.
