“SOMEONE ALREADY F****D HIM UP” Khamzat Chimaev has NO PLANS TO ENGAGE with Paulo Costa further
Khamzat Chimaev (L) and Paulo Costa (R)
Khamzat Chimaev is “THE” guy of the UFC right now. With other big names’ influence waning – Conor McGregor has been out for a year with a gnarly broken leg, Israel Adesanya is failing to live up to the fans’ expectations and Jorge Masvidal has gotten himself embroiled in a court dispute.
In the wake of several other stars also not performing to their projected levels, the UFC have seized on the opportunity to push new poster boy Khamzat Chimaev. The memo must be clear for the commentary team as well – Jon Anik opening simply with, “STAR POWER” when Khamzat Chimaev was walking out against Gilbert Burns.
This week, the Chechnyan native who now calls Sweden his home, fights against UFC veteran and fan favourite Nate Diaz in what is expected to be an extremely one-sided affair. The main event headlines the UFC 279 card, to be held in Las Vegas.

After Paulo Costa altercation, Khamzat Chimaev intends to give no attention to the Brazilian
This week, a lot of events have taken place outside the octagon. From Nate Diaz announcing his new fighting promotion to the match-up between Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler being announced, this week has had a ton of happenings.
Amongst them, has been another event that has gone viral in the MMA world. A few days back, Khamzat Chimaev attempted to square up to Brazilian Middleweight Paulo Costa, in a bid to confront him about being called “Gourmet Chen Chen”, albeit in a jesting tone.
The result of this altercation largely lies in Paulo Costa’s favour (according to the MMA audience at least!), as Costa standing his ground and refusing to be intimidated by the Swede has somewhat driven a cleaver in how the UFC want to promote Khamzat Chimaev. Despite being invited to square up by Costa, Chimaev can be seen asking his team to hold him back. A video of the incident is given below (although, take it with a pinch of salt given that the footage was released by Paulo Costa himself, on his YouTube).
Yesterday, Khamzat Chimaev was asked about the incident and if he would like to settle the beef within the octagon, to which he gave he replied, “He wants to be famous. Israel f**k his a*s you know? So what. All the world see that s**t. Now he have to go back and do something with Izzy. Why (would I fight him)? I don’t fight with that guy. That guy, somebody already f****d him up – in the ass.”
Evidently, Chimaev is paying no attention to Paulo Costa just yet. However, if the fortunes of the Brazilian were to flip, and he were to find himself in a favourable position within the top echelons of the Middleweight division, a fight between him and Chimaev in the near future. For now, Khamzat is solely focused on getting the job done against Nate Diaz come Sunday.
