Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman give Abu Dhabi fight fans a short but explosive fight to remember for ages. After Kamaru Usman replaced Paulo Costa to fight Khamzat Chimaev, fans were skeptical about the former champion’s fight condition; however, Usman brought the A game. 

The fight started with Chimaev being incredibly aggressive and immediately scoring a takedown, showing that he meant business. The round ended with the ‘Borz’ dominating Usman in all aspects. In Round 2, there was a conservative start with little scoring for the first two minutes. Usman landed a 1-2 combination, which was the most significant punch of the round. Chimaev attempted a late takedown, but the round ended shortly after. The third and final round started with an early takedown by Chimaev

but it was telegraphed from a mile away, and Usman easily avoided it.  However, the Chechen-born was reluctant and tried again, only to fail again in a takedown attempt. Both fighters then engaged in some serious punching showdowns as both fighters connected some accurate punches. Later, Chimaev went for a takedown again, and this time, it was even quicker, and despite that, Usman’s incredible defense managed to take him down.

As the fight went to its final seconds, both fighters just went all out and started swinging all out, which got the crowd going crazy. In the end, Chimaev was announced the winner via a majority decision, but it was definitely a close fight, according to many fans.

Fight fans react to Khamzat Chimaev almost struggling against Kamaru Usman before winning the bout at UFC 294

Khamzat Chimaev continued his winning streak in the UFC and is expected to fight for the middleweight championship against Sean Strickland. However, Usman definitely got a lot of credit from fight fans for accepting the fight on short notice and still giving such a competitive fight.

Many users credited Usman for putting on a show and giving Chimaev one of his toughest challenges in the UFC. Some claimed that this shows how unprepared Chimaev is when it comes to fighting some big names. Other than that, there were some controversies regarding the judge’s scorecards and fans couldn’t believe the fight was a majority decision.
