Khamzat Chimaev has always been open about his relationship with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. His connection with Kadyrov has been a subject of public attention due to Kadyrov, who has faced accusations of serious human rights abuses.
Chimaev often shares pictures of training with Ramzan Kadyrov and his sons on his official Instagram account. Chimaev was seen mentoring Kadyrov’s sons, particularly 15-year-old Ali Kadyrov, as they pursue careers in MMA Earlier this year, he was training with Ali and his group at the Tiger Muay Thai gym in Thailand.
Recently, in an interview with FULLSEND PODCAST, the fighter agreed to have received expensive gifts from Kadyrov. He said, “He give me three times. He likes the sport, fighting and lot of fighters been there. Usman been there, Mike Tyson been there, Floyd Mayweather been there. Guys get the money, for sure. He give me free cars, he helps me with everything, what I need just to be a fighter man.”
Chimaev revealed that he is the proud owner of three Mercedes-Benz vehicles gifted to him by Kadyrov, emphasizing the strong bond they share. According to Chimaev, Kadyrov is an avid MMA enthusiast who generously bestows lavish gifts upon the fighters he knows, and he has been a significant pillar of support throughout Chimaev’s professional journey.
Notably, Chimaev recently underwent a change in nationality, transitioning from Swedish citizenship to becoming a proud UAE citizen. He now serves as the face of Fight Club Akhmat, an institution bearing the name of Ramzan Kadyrov’s father. This transformation underscores the profound trust and mutual respect that has solidified between the ‘Borz’ and Kadyrov, strengthening their vital relationship.

After Kamaru Usman replaced Costa to become the new opponent for Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294, the ‘Borz’ had no problems with it. However, the fighter continued to mock the Brazilian, claiming that Costa was afraid to fight him.
However, Dana White confirmed in the press conference that Costa was severely injured and, under no condition, was given the green light to participate in the fight. White said that it was legit and if it wasn’t, he’d be the first one to say it. White confirmed that Costa had a nasty infection and it’s the truth that Costa couldn’t fight his condition.
