Khamzat Chimaev is number three on the UFC ranking after defeating Gilbert Burns in a three-round thriller which many see as a fight of the year contender. Khamzat won the fight through unanimous decisions.

Middleweight contender Joaquin Buckley is on a two-fight win streak. In a recent video shared by Khamzat Chimaev on YouTube, Buckley can be seen talking to Darren about a plausible fight in July the future. Khamzat was not happy seeing Joaquin just walk up to them and ask for a fight.

He said,” You want to play gangster I’m gonna f*ck you up.” This all transpired two days before the UFC 273 PPV. A fight between Joaquin and Darren will be interesting to see because of the stylistic matchup as both of these fighters prefer to stand and exchange. Only time will tell if they will face each other.

“I have respect for the guy” Khamzat Chimaev’s words for Gilbert Burns after their fight

Khamzat Chimaev in a post-fight interview with Laura Sanko of the UFC after taking on and defeating Gilbert Burns said,” He’s tougher than I realized, I dropped him he comes up again. I have respect for the guy.” Khamzat Chimaev is set to take on Colby Covington according to UFC president Dana White. Colby Covington is number one in the UFC rankings. Kamaru Usman is set to take on Leon Edwards in his next title defense.

If Khamzat successfully defeats Colby Covington in his next which will be no easy feat he will be up next for the title shot. Many will agree that Colby Covington has a better gas tank than Gilbert Burns and is a better wrestler than him. If Khamzat and Colby ever fight each other it will be tough for Khamzat to defeat Colby given Gilbert gave him a hard time in their three-round matchup. If this fight materializes or not we’ll find out in the future.
