Chimaev has called out Diaz and Muhammad for fights in August and October respectively
Khamzat Chimaev has made his intention clear about not backing down front Nate Diaz or a more serious challenger in Belal Muhammad. However, the wolf recently specified the time frame in which he wants to get it done and it’s shocking, to say the least.
Ever since his fight of the year contender bout against former title challenger Gilbert Burns, the wolf has been in fighters limbo as he is not sure who his next opponent will be. While some thought he might be challenging for the title soon, with Leon Edwards still in the waiting room that door seems to have closed. After Kamaru Usman announced that he is unsure of his recovery after a hand surgery late last month it was thought Edwards and Chimaev might duke it out for interim gold. However, after the fight between Usman and Edwards was made official at UFC 275, that door too shut on Chimaev’s face.
Now at the very top of welterweight but with a lack of challengers Chimaev has considered going on side quests while waiting for his title shot. To this regard, he called out Nate Diaz who has one final fight left on his current UFC contract. Diaz has dismissed the bout multiple times even deflecting the offer to his teammate Nick Maximov during a TMZ interview that led to a viral moment. The Wolf however seems to be eyeing a money fight and has continued to relentlessly pursue Diaz for the same.

However a true contender rose up and challenged Chimaev and you must remember his name. Belal who is on a 7 fight win streak has laid waste to top contenders like Wonderboy Thompson and Vicente Luque using his wrestling-heavy approach to MMA. While Khamzat seemed hesitant to take the fight at first he has since made clear that he has no problems facing the Palestinian native.
Now Chimaev has announced the unreal time frame in which he wants to dust his two future opponents. On Twitter, the Chechen star said, “August Diaz” tagging Nate and calling him out to be featured on the Usman v Edwards undercard. He continued, “October Belal” calling out Belal to face him on the Abu Dhabi card for bragging rights at Welterweight. This would be Belal’s first time performing in Abu Dhabi in over 5 years.
As we well remember Khamzat became such a big deal due to his initial flurry of performances as he made the quickest turnaround in modern UFC history after winning two fights in less than 10 days.
