“Looks better than Ngannou” – Khamzat Chimaev’s latest fiery training has boxing fans wishing Chechen superstar to switch sports
Middleweight fighter Khamzat Chimaev shared training footage ahead of UFC 294 fight with Kamaru Usman. It appears Chimaev has massively improved his striking skills.

Khamzat Chimaev will battle Kamaru Usman in a middleweight bout. Chimaev was to face off against Paulo Costa initially, but the Brazillian pulled out after complications due to a surgery he had recently. Usman replaced Costa on short notice to face Chimaev. Khamzat Chimaev’s latest training session video has drawn much attention.
“Khamzat Chimaev looks like he could do well in professional boxing also!” said a tweet by Boxing Kingdom on his training video. The video showed him boxing with a grapple bag with much skill. “‘I’ve been saying he looks better than Ngannou,” said another. The second set had him dodging dummy bars and boxing his way through with footwork.
Khamzat Chimaev has an undefeated record as an MMA fighter. He has fought in the welterweight and middleweight divisions. Chimaev last fought against Kevin Holland at UFC 279. He has finished all of his opponents in the UFC except Gilbert Burns. The Brazilian fighter managed to eat up Chimaev’s best shots and fought back hard all three rounds. In the end, Chimaev won the bout via decision.
Chimaev also had issues making weight in the welterweight division. After a prolonged discussion between his corner and the UFC brass, Chimaev moved up in weight. The Chechen-born fighter could earn a title shot with a win over Usman at UFC 294.
