A Welterweight clash between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards is set to take place in Salt Lake City this weekend. They will take the centre stage in the octagon to battle it out for the Welterweight crown. While Usman will look to conquer another contender to cement his place once again in the division. On the other hand, Edwards will look to avenge his loss and bring the belt to the UK.

The reigning champion is on a run beating top contenders twice and clearing out the division of contenders. The champion wants to end this in such a fashion that it leaves no doubt in anyone’s mind as to who is the P4P king. Although, Edwards still believes he’s the one who will dethrone the P4P king.

The champion Usman is yet to taste defeat in the octagon and has defended his title on 5 different occasions. The two Welterweights have locked horns before in 2015. Although the Brit did some damage in the first round. The Nigerian came on top in later rounds taking the victory by Unanimous Decision.

After the loss, the Brit went back to the drawing board and polished his skills to get better. This has obviously worked as he has since never lost a bout. The Brit has massed a 10-fight winning streak after the loss in 2015. The main hurdle in the first matchup was wrestling so he has also worked on his takedown defence.

In an interview after the ceremonial weigh-ins to BT Sport, The challenger talks about his upcoming fight, him being the underdog in the fight, his gameplan for the fight, his views on the champion and the fan reception at the ceremonial weigh-ins.

When asked about his feeling before one of the biggest fight of his carrier, the challenger stated, “I’m feeling good, feel comfortable, ate so I feel good you know? Like I said it’s been long time coming and I’m happy that our paths crossed at the perfect time and tomorrow night I’ll put the pound for pound king to the test.”

He further discussed the love from the fans and bringing the belt back to the UK. When asked about his game plan for the fight and how will the first minute of the fight will look like.

Edwards stated, ” I’m going after him! This won’t be like I said, I won’t be waiting around for him to shoot for his wrestling, I’m going to be me, be Leon Edwards and I’m not going to worry about what’s he coming to do and yeah I’m going after him from the bell.”
