UFC contender Ian Machado Garry cannot train anymore at Leon Edwards‘ gym. The welterweight champion and his coach expressed concerns over “doubts and insecurities” at Team Renegade. As a result, Garry was recently asked to leave. Team Renegade gymnasium, where UFC welterweight champion Edwards trains, informed The Independent that Garry was denied entry because he did not attribute to the team’s culture.
Speaking to The Independent, Team Renegade has officially said:
Sometimes the coaches allow fighters to come in from the outside, but this is very much a privilege and not the norm. If the coaches feel it’s not adding to the team’s culture, a fighter is refused entrance. Ian Garry’s more nomadic approach to preparation has given him great results, but it’s not in line with what we are creating at Team Renegade. This has nothing to do with one specific fighter or a specific coach.
It is a grantable sentiment that any gymnasium training elite combatants might have their pattern and way of things. As such, Garry himself has highly appreciated Team Renegade for welcoming him. But he had mentioned that Edwards and his coach had a problem with him.
Edwards, specifically, “did not want any insecurities or doubts on his mats, within the gym”; which the fighter mentions not fully comprehending.
Garry has trained at several gyms in recent years and is currently ranked #10 in the welterweight division. The Irishman is set to face his former teammate, Vicente Luque, at UFC 296 on December 16. Their bout will take place on the undercard of Edwards’ title defense against Colby Covington.
Leon Edwards promotes UFC 5 in latest tweets
EA SPORTS™ UFC 5 is the premier MMA fighting game released this Oct. 28. Despite initial reactions, the previous installment (UFC 4) went on to become one of the most acclaimed combat sports reenactions. Accordingly, many fighters from within the promotion have taken to socials to talk about the game.
UFC 5 is reportedly marked by many new features. They include better intractability, better transitions of move sets, doctor-stoppages and cinematics, next-level environment fidelity, and character graphical likeness.
It also boasts new damage systems and submissions, 64,000 possible facial damage combinations, new fluid physics, and many other things. Edwards has thus taken it upon himself to promote the game further, with a character snap of him from the gameplay.
This was not the only secluded tweet that Edwards chose to post. He has intensely been solidifying the impact of the game. As such, the game has proven worthy of it, in the limited time since release. UFC 5 now features Fight Week gameplay, ahead of actual fights in real time (not applicable for UFC 294). It also boasts a roster of exclusive legacy playable characters.
