“Where the f**k is that?” – Leon Edwards hilarious reaction to finding out title UFC 278 fight is in Utah
Leon Edwards talks about his fight against Kamaru Usman being held at Salt Lake City
Leon Edwards isn’t one to be picky about the venue of his fights but when the UK fighter found out that Utah was the location selected by the promotion of all places, for his title shot against Kamaru Usman, he could not hold back his laughter.
UFC 278 pay-per-view event finally has a headliner and it is the much-awaited welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman for the undisputed 170-pound title. During the UFC 275 pay-per-view event, the promotion announced the confirmation of this event and fight. UFC is going back to Salt Lake City and fans in Utah would be pleased to know that they have an amazing fight to witness live.
Leon “Rocky” Edwards has been craving for a title shot for the last two years and rightly so. Luck has never favored Edwards in the last few years so there is no doubt that Edwards would agree to fight Usman anyplace on Earth. However, Leon being a foreigner didn’t have a single clue where Utah was when the promoters announced the venue. After the announcement of his title fight, Leon paid a visit to the MMA Hour show hosted by Ariel Helwani and had a funny moment about the location of his upcoming fight.
“I ain’t got a clue” – Leon Edwards on his fight taking place in Utah
“I ain’t got a clue where Utah is,” Leon said about his initial reaction to the fight announcement. “I was like ‘where the f**k is that?’ Where is Utah in America? I wanted the fight to be in Vegas. I was telling everyone it was in Vegas. I have obviously heard about Utah but I ain’t got a clue where it is.”
Though the fight takes place in a place that Leon has no clue about, ‘Rocky’ could not care less where it happens. Leon has been waiting on the sideline for the return of Kamaru and his title shot for the last year. His last fight was at UFC 263 against Nate Diaz. Leon has been on a 9-fight winning streak and faced his last defeat to Usman himself. It would be poetic for Edwards to capture the welterweight title by avenging his loss to Kamaru back in 2015.
Usman is only now returning from his injury and will have a tough time against an improved Edwards. Though Kamaru might be the favorite heading into the fight, Leon is very determined to change the odds in his favor and become the champion. Watch Leon’s full interview on the MMA Hour below:
