“Get on your knees and beg” – Leon Edwards reveals the ONLY way Jorge Masvidal will get a shot at his welterweight belt
Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal
Leon Edwards now has the upper hand in his beef against Jorge Masvidal. The welterweight belt has given Edwards confidence like never before as he sends a befitting reply to his rival’s title shot callout.
Leon Edwards stunned the entire world after his amazing victory against the former welterweight king Kamaru Usman at UFC 278. The UK welterweight’s amazing knockout has put him on top of the world. “Rocky” will now decide who he wants to fight next.
Jorge Masvidal and “Rocky” Edwards have a long history and their beef is yet to be settled. Edwards had been calling for a fight against “Gamebred” several times before he became champion and his calls went unanswered. It is the British fighter’s turn to let Masvidal have a taste of his own medicine.
After Masvidal’s recent proposal to settle their differences in the octagon with the welterweight belt on the line, Edwards is down to fight the superstar but wants to be asked nicely first. “refer to me as “Mr Edwards” or “Sir” and get on your knees and beg and I may consider it,” wrote the champion on Twitter.

Jorge Masvidal asks Leon Edwards to “step up to the plate”
Masvidal called dibs on the title shot immediately after Edwards won the belt. The veteran got clowned on the internet for ducking “Rocky” all this time and immediately offering himself to fight once Edwards got the belt. Masvidal believes this is the fight to make after their altercation from years ago in England.
“Leon, f**king step up to the plate, bro. You begged and cried and did all this bullsh*t before when I was fighting for the titles. Now you got the belt, let’s go!” said Masvidal in his interview with MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck. Masvidal justified him not taking the Edwards fight before he was a champion.
According to Masvidal, he never ducked the UK fighter instead was fighting better competition in former champion Kamaru Usman and the number one contender, Colby Covington. Masvidal and Edwards were scheduled to fight at UFC 269 in 2021 but the fight was scrapped after Masvidal pulled out due to injury. Will we get to see Edwards vs Masvidal in England?
