Luke Rockhold doesn’t want to “Give Relevancy To Idiots” as he dismisses Jake Paul’s shocking criticism
Rockhold has completely dismissed the idea of facing Jake Paul
Luke Rockhold has finally responded to Jake Paul’s criticisms of his final UFC fight. Rockhold went up against Costa in the co-main event for UFC 278. The bout won fight of the night honors despite the two contestants looking severely gassed.
Paul’s criticisms are rooted in this issue, in that he believed the level of athleticism displayed by the two was not of an international sporting standard. For this he received a lot of flak from Ariel Helwani and mockery from fans.
What Paul failed to point out was that this was Luke’s last fight and also at elevation, which may mess up your rhythm unless you acclimatize yourself. Moreover, Helwani took issue with Paul discrediting a fighter who had been campaigning for workers’ rights for everyone in the UFC. This was Paul’s whole shtick and rooting against Rockhold revealed how sincere he was about the cause.
Luke Rockhold dismisses boxing match against Jake Paul
Luke however has no time to occupy his mind with the thoughts of a former YouTuber as he is happy with retirement, mushrooms, and his dogs. Contended with his final UFC performance, Rockhold appeared on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani where he expresses his thoughts on Paul and his comments.
“I don’t really give relevance to idiots, I’m tired of doing that”, said Rockhold as he expressed that he initially thought well of Jake based on Ariel’s opinion on him. Rockhold then said that it was hate that was projected on to Paul that broke him and he ultimately channeled it towards Luke.
Rockhold said that Jake would never understand what it was like fighting at altitude saying, “You fight handicapped matches, what do you know about fighting? You’re finding guys that are smaller than you, older than you and I don’t think I’d really open my mouth about you and you better not open your mouth about me”
Rockhold was then asked if he would like a fight against Jake Paul however he declined saying he had own plans after his UFC retirement. “It’s the modern day, people like that, he think he’s f**king Ali, shut the f*** up before I smack the shit out of you”, said a furious Rockhold as he dismissed Jake’s place in the combat sports community.
