Magomed Ankalaev recently won his rematch against Johnny Walker at UFC Vegas 84. After a controversial end to their first fight, he knocked out the Brazilians to settle their business. Soon after the win, he called out the champion, Alex Pereira, for a title fight. But former champion Jamahal Hill also remains in line to challenge Pereira. So, Ankalaev looked at the situation and shared his thoughts.

In the post-fight press conference, Magomed Ankalaev stated he deserved the title shot ahead of Jamahal Hill. As such, he made his case to fight for the title. Here is what he said:

I’m more deservant of the belt because I have 10 victories, six of them knockouts. And Jamahal Hill has eight fights total in the UFC. So it’s just clear that I’m a more deservant contender than Jamahal Hill.

Jamahal Hill won the title against Glover Texiera at UFC 283. This title fight came to fruition only because the title clash between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz ended in an unfortunate draw. So, Ankalaev felt he should fight for the title next. However, the UFC promised Hill a title shot upon his return. As such, Hill vacated the belt in 2023 after suffering an Achilles injury. This led Alex Pereira to become the light heavyweight champion.
