“It is already agreed, the decision has been made. Whoever wins the fight between Sean and Alex will face the winner of Jared Cannonier and Israel Adesanya. It’s a deal,” said the manager on the Trocação Franca podcast. Alex is only two fights into the UFC and has won both of them. Pereira might only be 5-1 in his MMA career but the Brazilian is a former kickboxing champion in GLORY.

Manager Guimaraes revealed that not a lot of people wanted to fight Pereira given the threat he poses. Alex is currently unranked but Strickland, who is ranked #4 has agreed to take the risk of fighting him. The reward is as big as the risk for this fight. “There were like 12 fighters turning down fights. And fights there would be interesting…but when you get to the top of the pyramid, people are forced to accept a fight.” [Translated from Portuguese by MMA Fighting]
