Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa are getting ready to fight against each other in a grudge match scheduled for UFC 294 on October 21 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Costa has already moved to the UAE in preparation for his upcoming fight next month, where he was seen participating in training sessions.
During this time, Khamzat Chimaev took the opportunity to humorously tease ‘Borrachinha’ when images of Costa training at former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s gym in the UAE started circulating on social media.
In a tweet, Chimaev mentioned that the Brazilian should take some help from Nurmagomedov ahead of their fight, but the result won’t change. He wrote, “Kibib gym MaShaAllah my Muslim brother help everybody ?? ask him to help you maybe he will help you, but still gonna smash you povlovich???⏳⚰️.”
However, according to reporter Damon Martin Nurmagomedov’s former manager, Ali Abdelaziz, confirmed that the gym is only using the Dagestani’s name for advertisement. The ‘Eagle’ has no plans to work with Costa ahead of the Abu Dhabi fight against Chimaev. Given the intensity of how both fighters are getting ready, it’s going to be an amazing match at UFC 294.
Khamzat Chimaev sends a spine-chilling warning to Paulo Costa ahead of their clash in Abu Dhabi
Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa‘s rivalry is currently considered one of the fiercest on the UFC roster. The clash between these two fighters has been building up for nearly a year. It all began when they met at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas, just before Chimaev’s victory over Kevin Holland at UFC 279.
During this encounter, ‘Borz’ confronted Costa about some remarks the Brazilian had made. Thankfully, the situation didn’t escalate, and they went their separate ways. Since that incident, both fighters have engaged in a lighthearted yet intense exchange on social media, resorting to memes and other online tactics to jab at each other playfully.
Ahead of their fight, Chimaev has sent a warning to Costa about the fight taking place in Abu Dhabi. He said, “Paulo, Paulovich. You dead man. Just be sure, come up to the cage. Beat you up, send you back in the package to Brazil. Still in Brazil they don’t want you. No country recognises you. Now you coming to my country. Muslims brother, they coming for you brother. Allah Hu Akbar.”
Chimaev mentioned that he plans to beat Costa and send him back to Brazil in a package. Both fighters have been known for entertaining fights in the past and this time, fans are expecting no different.
