The recent conclusion of the partnership between the UFC and USADA left a bad taste for some people. Mark Hunt, along with several other fighters, has shared his perspective on the matter. Hunt believed the UFC and Dana White may face challenges in maintaining their relevance without the contributions brought by USADA.
Hunt mentioned in a recent Instagram post that Dana White would be proven guilty of ripping out fighters in his promotion. He wrote,“I give you a year @dana White @ufc before u are no more. U can’t keep ripping fighters and there families off. The exodus from u criminals is already starting.”
Hunt then went on to call White a ‘scumbag gutterdog’. Hunt continued in a second post, “Imagine waiting for my lawsuit to end so u could try force USADA to put McGregor in without testing. Why make rules when u don’t follow them or enforce them yourself? It isn’t over yet boi.”
Hunt has accused White of bending the rules to benefit both himself and the UFC. He cited Conor McGregor could fight in an upcoming UFC event without strict USADA rules.
Hunt was with the UFC from 2007 to 2018, but his last years there were rocky. The trouble started back in 2016 at UFC 200 when Hunt faced Brock Lesnar, a former UFC star. Hunt lost that fight, and later, Lesnar had used performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). According to Hunt, White let Lesnar fight, knowing he’d used PEDs.
In 2017, Hunt sued the UFC and Lesnar, claiming they broke the law, committed fraud, and breached their contract. However, the lawsuit did not go as planned. The court cited the lack of evidence to prove that the UFC intentionally set up the fight, knowing Lesnar had used PEDs. This was why Hunt remained so determined to expose Dana White and the UFC.
Dana White takes a dig at USADA and calls out the organization for their ‘scumbag’ behavior
Dana White criticized USADA after they announced the end of their partnership with the UFC, which is set to conclude on January 1st, 2024. White expressed his frustration on The Pat McAfee Show, slamming USADA for how they handled the announcement.
Dana White voiced his strong disapproval of the USADA announcement, describing it as a “dirty move” and characterizing it as a scumbag move. He stated that the matter would be addressed further on the same day.
According to White, several individuals are dissatisfied with USADA, and he emphasized the UFC’s commitment to maintaining a specific standard. He stated that they would be taking a different direction regarding their anti-doping efforts.
White mentioned that the UFC would continue to engage an independent company for their drug testing program, as it’s the preferred approach. He emphasized the importance of their established standards but acknowledged widespread discontent with USADA. He indicated that they are exploring alternative directions, especially in light of what he termed a “dirty scumbag move” made by USADA in their recent announcement.
