Luke Thomas of the ‘Morning Kombat’ recently had an exclusive interview with Marlon “Chito” Vera. The duo talked about Vera’s recent win at UFC 292 and a possible title shot. The main focus of their talk remained about Vera’s future fight.
Vera was asked whether he was guaranteed a title shot after answering questions regarding his performance at UFC 292. Chito replied, “After the fight, I just text Hunter and Dana and i was like, “hey guys, you guys know where i am. I’m ready to go. So just if there’s something to talk, lets talk it out. I’m all in for.” I’m sure they will come with something and I to me, it just seems like how not to do it right now. There’s no way they’re not gonna do it right now.” Vera further claimed that it was also the best option for the UFC financially.
Vera also praised Sean O’Malley’s performance at UFC 292. He also had good words for Aljamain Sterling but criticized the former champion’s standup game. Being the only person to have a win over O’Malley does have its perks. Vera, without a doubt, believes that he would have the bantamweight title to himself by December.
Some fans might not like Vera getting a title shot over streaking contenders like Cory Sandhagen and Merab Dvalishvili. Dana White has already said that O’Malley is a superstar and will make a lot of money. Ultimately, the UFC will likely decide in favor of what O’Malley wants.
Sean O’Malley is very explosive according to Marlon Vera
Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera acknowledged that Sean O’Malley’s explosiveness remains a defining element of his fighting style. Vera talked in detail about the threat of O’Malley to Luke Thomas.
Vera recognizes O’Malley’s ability to be similar to Conor McGregor when considering a potential second fight with O’Malley. Vera has fought powerful strikers like John Linekar and Song Yadong. Linekar was reckless, but O’Malley has poise and focus. “Chito” also slammed Aljamain Sterling for underestimating O’Malley.
O’Malley’s striking skills and unique techniques have made him known as a dynamic and unpredictable fighter. Vera will be cautious when exchanging strikes with the champion if the fight happens in December.
