“Everything is to benefit Sugar”- Marlon Vera accuses the UFC of providing an unfair advantage to Sean O’Malley
Marlon Vera on Sean O'Malley
Marlon Vera speaks out on UFC’s treatment of ‘The Suga Show!’ Sean O’Malley and Pedro Munhoz are all set to clash on July 3 in the 6th PPV event by UFC in 2022. O’Malley last fought in December 2021 and is looking to return to the octagon for his first fight of the year. Pedro also last fought on the same night as Sean and is now all set to face Sean in one of the biggest fights in his career.
Sean O’Malley is one of the biggest stars in the UFC and despite fighting unranked opponents, Sean has gained himself a pretty enormous fan base and has millions of followers on his social media accounts. Sean recently expressed his desire to fight for the UFC bantamweight title and he believes a fight against Pedro is a stepping stone for his journey to become the Bantamweight champion.
O’Malley’s former opponent, and arch-nemesis, Marlon Vera is also making some big moves in the division. He handed Sean his professional career’s first loss, and many thought it happened because of the leg injury Sean sustained in that fight.

“I don’t need to chase that sh*t”- Marlon Vera isn’t buying into the social media bullsh*t like Sean O’Malley
Marlon and Sean have been going back and forth since their first encounter, and they are expected to face each other sooner than later. Vera recently appeared in an interview with Brendan Schaub, and he talked about how the UFC is doing everything in his power to turn things in O’Malley’s favor.
He said, “They couldn’t find him a better fight in the top 10. They find the smaller guy with the shorter reach. Everything is to benefit ‘Sugar’ because even if he lost, he’s gonna make an excuse. ‘Oh, I fought a tough guy,’ which who f**king cares? I’ve beat him. When people come to me about it, I’m like, ‘I don’t need that.”
He added, “I’m not looking for hype, I’m not looking for more followers, I don’t give two f**ks.’ I’m making my money, I’m getting up, I’m going after the belt. I’m not going after the hype. I’m not looking to be cool because I know I’m cool. I know I’m funny, I don’t need to chase that sh*t. When you try too hard, you won’t get it.”
Vera accumulated an impressive win streak, he knocked out a former champion, Frankie Edgar, and completely butchered Rob Font in his last fight. He is very much in the title contention, the champion, Aljamain Sterling is expected to defend his title shot against TJ Dillashaw, and with a win or two, Vera can find himself fighting for the title.
