“He can get it” – Marlon Vera assures Cory Sandhagen of a fight after the latter’s dominant win against Song Yadong

UFC Vegas 60 main event featured the key bantamweight showdown between Cory Sandhagen and Song Yadong. Sandhagen, #4 in the rankings took the #10 fighters in the division and it turned out to be a fighting spectacle. The fight was extremely competitive however, Sandhagen took the win due to the doctor’s stoppage after the fourth round.

Both fighters were amazing from the start and had a lot of exchanges in the middle of the octagon. In the second round, the ‘Sandman’ landed a nasty elbow which cut open the area above Song’s left eye. The Chinese fought despite the injury and as the fight progressed the cut got worse. After the end of the fourth round, referee Herb Dean stopped the fight and Sandhagen was announced the winner.

The 30-year-old made an amazing comeback after losing two fights in a row previously. During the post-fight interview, Cory called out Marlon Vera and Merab Dvalishvili for a fight later this year. He said :

“Yeah, one of those guys in October or Chito and Merab are the top two guys. You know, I don’t wanna get left out. The last time I got left out, I had to fight down in the rankings. I wanna fight someone at the top. Give me someone for Christmas.”

As Cory Sandhagen made the call-out, coincidentally, Marlon Vera was inside the UFC APEX and was watching the fights. The fighter then was asked about his response to the call out and Vera seemed eager for the fight.

Vera mentioned that he is ready if Sandhagen wants to fight and will not avoid any challenge. The Ecuadorian explained that he wants to be the next champion and doesn’t want to dodge any fights on his way. He said:

“Well if he want it, he can get it. I’m not shy away from any fight. I’m a fighter, I fight anybody, I want to be a world champion. So if I wanna get there and get the belt, I don’t run away from no one. He want it , I can get it or I don’t know, whatever the f*** UFC wants. I’m ready to go right now.”

Chito revealed that the Sandhagen vs Song fight was entertaining and he knows everyone in the UFC is strong enough to beat their opponents.

“It was a fun fight. I’m impressed by anybody, that’s how I push myself. Everybody in the UFC is a hard fight, I’m a hard worker. Anybody can win at this level,” said Vera.

Sandhagen vs Vera would be an amazing bout and fight fans will get the opportunity to see some nasty action. Both the fighters are known for their brutal style and it will be a great show for the UFC.
