Marlon Vera believes Henry Cejudo might have retired to hide a positive PED test. Henry Cejudo has recently announced his comeback to the UFC and has also re-entered the USADA drug-testing pool to become eligible for fighting. Henry announced his retirement in his post-fight interview after beating Dominick Cruz to defend the bantamweight title at UFC 249 in 2020.
Since his retirement, the bantamweight division has changed a lot. Petr Yan and Jose Aldo fought for the vacant title at UFC 251 and Petr won the fight via KO/TKO in the fifth round of the fight to become the new bantamweight champion. Yan then lost in his first title defense against Aljamain Sterling after an illegal knee strike in the fourth round. Aljamain is the current UFC bantamweight champion and has defended his belt against Petr Yan in a rematch at UFC 273.
With Henry returning to the UFC, many fighters have made certain speculations about his return. Marlon Vera also talked about Henry’s return and said that he might have tested positive and retired to hide the positive PED test. In his latest interview with The Schmo, Marlon Vera said: “It’s when he retired, and now he wants to come back. Maybe he tested positive, and they told him it is positive so, he retired and know he’s coming back.”

Marlon Vera is confident that he will beat Petr Yan and fight for the Bantamweight title in his next few fights. Marlon is currently on a 3 fight win streak and has shown exceptional performances in his recent fight. In his last fight against Rob Font, Marlon left Rob unrecognizable, and he is now looking to face Petr Yan in his next fight. In his last three fights, Marlon has delivered an impressive performance of the Night victory over Frankie Edgar, and a Fight of the Night win against Rob Font.
In his recent interview, Marlon has expressed his desire to fight for the bantamweight title and he believes he will get the title shot after winning one more fight. Marlon believes his next fight will be against Petr Yan and he is confident that he can ‘stop’ Petr in their match.
Marlon Vera said: “We’re right there. We’re literally one win away to fight for that belt. I hope we get it done with Yan. I think that’s the path to the belt. No.1 Contender. We kick his a** and we move forward… If I stop Yan, I get a title shot.”
Marlon is currently the #5th ranked fighter in the Bantamweight division and has been steadily stepping up in ranks. If Marlon wins his fight against Petr Yan, then he will definitely be a threat to the bantamweight champion. Petr has lost his last two fights against Aljamain Sterling and a fight with Marlon Vera will be an interesting one to watch.
