In a recent conversation with Brendan Schaub on Food Truck Diaries, Marlon Vera discussed several intriguing topics within the UFC. This includes Vera’s significant victory over Pedro Munhoz and his proposed upcoming title fight against the newly crowned champion, “Suga” Sean O’Malley. During the conversation with Schaub, Vera roasted Aljamain Sterling for the decisions he took in his career.

Marlon Vera thought that Sterling wasn’t ready for UFC 292, mentally and physically. “Chito” believes that Sterling took O’Malley lightly and quickly turned around to fight at UFC 292. Vera is of the opinion that Sterling shouldn’t have taken the fight in August in the hopes of making a little extra money. Vera clarified what Sterling did wrong. He said, “He beats Cejudo in Brooklyn. He should’ve been F*ck You!F*ck You! I’m fighting in December. You wanna strip me? Strip me, and he kind of went like ,Oh I want to make a million or maybe over. I’m gonna just do it.”

Marlon Vera is in pole position to fight against O’Malley in December. Sean O’Malley was finished by Marlon Vera at UFC 252. With O’Malley already calling Vera out, things are looking smooth as far as Vera’s title aspirations are concerned.

Schaub mentioned two names deserving of a title shot- Cory Sandhagen and Merab Dvalishvili. Sandhagen is out with a triceps injury. Dvalishvili is on the bad books of the UFC for his refusal to fight Sterling due to friendship.

Marlon Vera was not surprised by Sean O’Malley beating Aljamain Sterling

Sean O’Malley was a big underdog going into the fight against Aljamain Sterlin at UFC 292. However, Vera believed that the fight was fifty-fifty. Vera believed that either O’Malley knocks Sterling out or Sterling outwrestles O’Malley for a victory. Vera was speaking to Brendan Schaub on Food Truck Diaries.

Vera’s words have value in this matter as he is the only fighter who holds a victory over the current champion. In his most recent outing, he won a unanimous decision victory over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 292. Before that victory, he had his four fight-winning streak snapped by Cory Sandhagen at UFC on ESPN 43.

If Vera gets the title shot and emerges victorious, he would be the first fighter from Ecuador to win a world title in the UFC. Vera already has Tom Cruise-level fame in Ecuador. A world title would boost his stardom worldwide.
