Marlon Vera and Song Yadong fought each other at UFC on ESPN: Overeem vs. Harris in 2020. The fight was close and Yadong won the fight via unanimous decision. Both the fighters earned the Fight of the Night award bonus for their performances.
Recently, Yadong made a tweet about Vera about what happened two years ago. The fighter revealed that he is ready to fight Vera again soon and it will be an entertaining fight for the fans.
“Two years ago today, I won the fight against Chito. I know he’s not happy with the decision, but remember I wasn’t at my best anyway. I’m interested in doing a rematch, it would be a lot of fun. @chitoveraUFC.“
After the fight with Vera, Yadong went on to win three more bouts along with a loss. Currently the fighter is ranked #9 in the division and is trying to get higher.
Marlon Vera responds to Song Yadong’s call out
After Yadong’s claims and proposal for a rematch on twitter, Vera didn’t take much time to reply back.
The fighter took to Twitter and explained that it took Yadong two years to gather courage and speak out. Vera refused to fight the Chinese now as he revealed that he wants to take on Petr Yan next. But he confirmed that after taking care of Yan he will definitely fight Yadong again.
“Took ya 2 years to grow some balls, been mentor by a bitch will make u one. I got yan ass next but eventually I will kick your ass again,”
Vera is currently on a rise and has won in the last three of his octagon appearances. In his last fight against Rob Font, Vera won the fight via unanimous decision. Vera is currently the #5 ranked fighter in the bantamweight division and is looking forward to getting closer to the title shot.
Yan on the other hand, lost his last fight against champion, Aljamain Sterling at UFC 272. The fight between Vera and Yan if it ever happens would be an impressive bout to watch.
