At UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, Marlon Vera won a majority decision over American Ron Font after five grueling rounds. Font was superior in the first and second rounds, with better movement and footwork and the ability to take Vera to the ground on a few occasions, but with 20 seconds left in the episode.

Vera connected with a left hook, Rob fell to the canvas, Vera smelled blood and went against his opponent with ground and pound, but the bell rang and the actions were stopped. After a high-profile victory, Chitto, like any other fighter, wanted to fight a top-ranked opponent in his next fight, claiming, “I want the 1,2,3, in the rankings, I have no problem fighting any of them.”

Marlon Vera sought a rematch with the former featherweight champion, who is currently fighting for a shot at the belt as a bantamweight challenger. In the post-fight interview, he stated,  “I would love to fight Aldo again, and especially in a five-rounder, just because he declined a five-rounder when we fought last December,”

Vera lost to Aldo in a decision back in December of 2020, he claims the fight being 3 rounds was the reason. Due to which he is demanding a rematch but for the whole 5 rounds.

In the post-fight interview after defeating Rob Font, Marlon Vera was in the awe of his victory and rightfully so after all it is the biggest profile win of his career as of yet. In the post-fight interview at UFC Apex he stated, “I feel today something that my coach always says your mind is finally catching to your body. It’s been a long journey but hardwork, hard work. When you put everything aside, life will give you a good victory.”

He celebrates his win with his family to which he expressed, “That means the whole world. Everything I’ve dreamed of is happening. I’m living my dreams. I want to be a champion and bring my belt to Ecuador. My dad is screaming. First, my mother is here.”

Vera has a 13-6 record since entering the Octagon for the first time in 2014. He’s on one of the best runs of his career, having won the UFC for the first time as the first Ecuadorian. Vera’s stunning front-kick knockout of Frankie Edgar helped him land his first UFC main event, a crucial bantamweight matchup with Rob Font that might vault him into title contention.

He’s an exciting young fighter with a lot of potentials, so it’ll be interesting to watch if he continues his current winning streak and if he can rise up the ranks to receive a title shot and win it.

Until then, all one can do is relax and watch the performance.
