“I’m ready”, Mateusz Gamrot acknowledges Dana White wanting him to face Beneil Dariush soon
Beneil Dariush, Dana White and Mateusz Gamrot
UFC president Dana White has other plans for Beneil Dariush, which means Mateusz Gamrot has an opportunity to shine. Dana talks about it with Kevin Iole in an interview for Yahoo Sports.
Islam Makhachev and Beneil were scheduled to fight in the main event of UFC Fight Night 202 held in February, however, Dariush withdrew due to an ankle injury. The fight continued, with Islam being partnered with Bobby Green instead, who he sent packing one round.
Dana considered rebooking Islam vs. Beneil at first. However, according to his interview with Yahoo Sports, he has other plans that may come to fruition, ones involving Mateusz Gamrot.
“Make a meeting tomorrow, boys”: Dana encourages Mateusz Gamrot vs Beneil Dariush
Kevin, in the interview, mentions Mateusz as he praises the fighter for his guts in demanding a battle against Justin Gaethje. It is at this point that Dana mentions how fantastic a Gamrot-Dariush matchup would be.
Dana tells Yahoo Sports, “Yeah, I think what I love is I love Gamrot-Dariush, when he comes back. So… You have to make a meeting tomorrow, boys.” He continues, “The main event was high level, incredible. I mean, just an amazing fight. And you’re talking about, what, No. 11 and No. 12 in that division. You know what I mean? So yeah, it was special.”
It looks like Mateusz Gamrot is definitely interested because he wasted no time replying to Dana’s proposition of the potential matchup. Retweeting MMA Junkies’ tweet about Dana’s Interview, he says, “I’m ready at the end of the year.”
