UFC Fight Night is set to feature Max Holloway against “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. “The Korean Zombie” is ranked No.8 in the featherweight division. This fight against No. 1 ranked Holloway could be a crucial one for Sung Jung as it can potentially offer him a title shot. The 36-year-old was asked in the pre-fight press conference about his further plans in the UFC where he expressed his honest opinion.
The interviewers asked Sung Jung if he plans to fight for the title or would go towards the direction of retirement. “The Korean Zombie” answered, “Not really sure what’s gonna happen. It’s very difficult for a fighter to acknowledge that one’s career has ended. So I’ll have to see how well I fight in the octagon. I’ll have to assess myself on this fight and then decide what’s going on next.“
Sung Jung is one of the most respected fighters on the featherweight roster. The 36-year-old holds a record of 17 victories and seven losses in his pro-MMA record. Further, he got his famous nickname “The Korean Zombie” for his zombie-like ability to continuously move forward and fight aggressively even after getting hit by heavy blows.
This matchup against Max Holloway can indeed turn out to be a crucial fight for Sung Jung’s career. A win against a No. 1 ranked fighter doesn’t guarantee a title shot but does put him in the line for it. Almost at the end of his career, the Korean Zombie is looking for a way to potentially end his fighting career on a high note.
