‘He’s known for not giving damage’ – Max Holloway goes out of character to “trash talk” Alexander Volkanovski ahead of UFC 276
Max Holloway gets fired up at UFC 276 press conference
It is safe to say that the trilogy fight against Alexander Volkanovski is not “just another fight” for the former champion Max Holloway. The fans got to see a side of “The Blessed” that usually never comes out. The Hawaiin featherweight went all out with his trash talk at the UFC 276 press conference.
The UFC 276 pre-fight press conference was one of the best pressers in a long time. All the pay-per-view stars came out to address the fans and the media and play their mind games against their opponents on the stage. While the usual suspects Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland were doing the most talking last night, former featherweight champion, Max Holloway was surprisingly fired up as he tried to launch scathing attacks on his opponent Alexander Volkanovski ahead of their legacy fight in the co-main event.
Max is never known for talking trash. The “Blessed” has always been very kind and respectful towards his opponents and never actually tried to play mind games. However, this trilogy fight seems to mean much more for Holloway than the previous two outings against the Australian fighter. Holloway went all out with his mic skills and tried to diss Volkanovski on the mic when the opportunity presented.
Max Holloway is tired of everyone talking about him taking “damage”
“All week all I heard you guys talking about was ‘Damage’. We talking about damage here. Damage this. Damage that. I’m known for taking a lot of damage and he is known for not giving it so, let’s get it,” said a Holloway who is tired of hearing people talk about his damage absorption stat in the UFC octagon.
Leading up to the fight, Alex spoke about how people seemed to only compliment Holloway on being the fighter with the most strikes thrown. Volkanovski wanted to remind the folks watching that Holloway is also known for absorbing a lot of strikes and his chin was going to be put to test this weekend at UFC 276.
Nevertheless, it was very weird seeing Max try to force beef with his opponent who he has fought on two other occasions. The Australian champ is now 2-0 in his rivalry and is looking to put a nail in the coffin in the upcoming fight. Holloway has put on splendid performances in the octagon to prove to the world he is still the number one contender in the featherweight division. Do you think Holloway has let the emotions get the better of him leading up to the trilogy?
